This report describes the work and results of RES4BUILD Task 2.4 “Testing of the integrated multi-source heat pump”. The main purpose of the task was to test the vapour compression heat pump in order to characterize the performance and to measure the efficiency. The vapour compression heat pump was designed and produced by Psyctotherm in Greece. It was initially tested at Demokritos National Centre for Scientific Research (NCSRD). Afterwards, the intention was to couple the vapour compression heat pump with the magnetocaloric heat pump made by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in a cascade coupling, and test the integrated heat pump focusing on its overall efficiency. The integrated heat pump is a central component of the pilot system constructed at Danish Technological Institute (DTI) where solar PV and solar thermal heat production from the PVT collectors along with virtual borehole thermal energy storage (BTES) are included in a “real-time” test system, which simulates realistic heat consumption profiles.
